James Gleick and Dan Jenkins Win 2012 PEN Awards

The PEN American Center has announced the winners and runners-up for their 2012 PEN Awards. We’re pleased to report that James Gleick has been awarded the PEN/E. O. Wilson Literary Science Writing Award for The Information: A History, a Theory, a Flood, and Dan Jenkins has won the PEN/ESPN Lifetime Achievement Award for Literary Sports Writing.

Our congratulations also to John Casey, whose book Room For Improvement: Notes on a Dozen Lifelong Sports was announced as a runner-up for the PEN/ESPN Award for Literary Sports Writing. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on October 23, 2012, at CUNY Graduate Center’s Proshansky Auditorium in New York City.
