Lean In with Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s We Should All Be Feminists

Three years ago, Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Facebook, published Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead. The book was inspired by a TEDTalk she gave in 2010 that has now been viewed nearly six million times. Since Lean In’s publication, women (and men!) all around the world have formed Circles, small groups who meet regularly to learn and grow together. Sound familiar? For many people, a book club can provide a similar place for discussion and support.

Our friends at LeanIn.org have collected tons of expert talks and lectures to inspire discussion among Circles, but we wanted to draw your attention to one of our favorites: Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s “We Should All Be Feminists” TEDTalk. Adichie’s discourse offers a definition of feminism rooted in inclusion and awareness and encourages everyone to take up the cause of equality for women.

This is a rich topic for discussion, and LeanIn.org has created a discussion guide to help you and your group tackle the themes and ideas of Adichie’s talk. Watch the video below or pick up a copy of We Should All Be Feminists at your favorite bookstore and get talking with your group!
