"The Women's Crusade" by Nicholas D. Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn

We’re proud to present to you this week’s New York Times Magazine special issue on the worldwide women’s liberation movement (on stands this Sunday, August 23rd). This excellent issue features an article by Nicholas D. Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn, who discuss the ways in which women’s liberation could solve many of the world’s problems, from poverty to terrorism. “The Women’s Crusade” is adapted from their forthcoming book, Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide, on sale September 8th. The article is accompanied by a moving slide show narrated by Kristof.
You may enter to win a signed copy of Half the Sky by submitting your photos and stories about helping women in the developing world. See Nicholas Kristof’s blog, On the Ground, for more information.
Also included in this issue is a powerful story about school girls in Afghanistan by our own Dexter Filkins, author of The Forever War.
