Ian McEwan Shortlisted for Comic Fiction Award

Ian McEwan’s climate change comedy, Solar, has been shortlisted for the 2010 Bollinger Everyman Wodehouse Prize for Comic Fiction, selected by the judges as one of the five novels of the past year that have captured the comic spirit of PG Wodehouse. Not normally considered a comic writer, McEwan pulls off full-blown satire in Solar, which centers on a short, fat, philandering physicist in search of a technological fix to looming climate catastrophe.
