SHERYL SANDBERG AND OTHER EXPERTS OFFER PRACTICAL ADVICE TO GRADUATES IN NEW EDITION OF LEAN IN

In Lean In for Graduates, Sheryl Sandberg updates her 1.6 million-copy book Lean In, which debuted at #1 on the New York Times Best Seller list and remains on the list one year later. This new edition offers essential advice for graduates entering a competitive job market. Sandberg acknowledges the uncertainty and fear many students experience once they leave school and begin their hunt for full-time employment. “There’s no question the world moves faster today,” Sandberg writes, or “that you are entering a struggling economy.” In light of this, Sandberg has created a handbook for those entering the job market to help them succeed.

In Lean In for Graduates, a team of experts joins Sandberg to offer advice to graduates. Executive coach Mindy Levy provides how-tos on writing a resume, preparing for an interview and getting that first job. Compensation expert Kim Keating offers a step-by-step guide to salary negotiation. Rachel Simmons, Odd Girl Out author and cofounder of the Girls Leadership Institute helps young graduates find their own voice as they figure out what they want to do with their lives.

Additionally, Ariel Investments president Mellody Hobson urges women of color to own who they are and McKinsey’s Kunal Modi calls on millennial men to work toward gender equality. Rachel Thomas, president of LeanIn.Org, describes how women across the world are joining the Lean In Community and taking action to change their lives. And a dozen members of the community have contributed their own personal stories of overcoming obstacles – from negotiating a first salary to learning to sit at the table to conquering their fears.

Lean In for Graduates includes the full text of the original best seller, whose title became an instant catchphrase for empowering women. Like the original, Lean In for Graduates will change lives. As Sandberg writes in her letter to graduates: “This is your time. You can help create a more equal world where everyone sits at the table and all voices are heard. Generations of women are rooting for you. I am rooting for you.”

Sandberg will make select media appearances for Lean In for Graduates. The book’s first printing is 150,000 copies, and first serial has been sold to Essence Magazine (“Own Who You Are” by Mellody Hobson in the May issue) and Cosmopolitan Magazine (“How to Find Your First Job” by Mindy Levy in the June issue.)
