Watch Jane Mendelsohn Discuss American Music

American Music, by Jane Mendelsohn, is a book about storytelling and storytellers. A physical therapist named Honor forms an unlikely connection with one of her patients, an Iraqi war veteran named Milo. When Honor works with Milo, the two find that her touch releases memories—stories—in them both. We sat down with Jane and asked her to tell us about the novel’s themes and to talk about what it was like to meet her literary hero. For her answers, watch the videos below!
