Kevin Canty Reads Backwards (and Forwards, too)!
Confession and Jealousy was the theme of this month’s Happy Ending Music and Reading Series at Joe’s Pub, where Kevin Canty read from his short story collection Where the Money Went. Adhering to the series’ rule of taking one public risk before reading, Canty recited from his book backwards, a feat that was pure poetry!
Appearing alongside Canty were authors Nick Laird (who serenaded his pet pug with original sonnets) and Binnie Kirshenbuam, and musician Elvis Perkins. In keeping with the evening’s theme, Happy Ending founder and host Amanda Stern read some scintillating personal confessions submitted by the audience, then led the crowd to an after-party where literary luminaries (and book lovers) abounded.

At the after-party, Kevin Canty stands beside his lovely literary agent Denise Shannon.
