Listen to Ricky Riccardi's Spotify Playlist!

Knopf and Doubleday recently launched Spotify profiles featuring music playlists to accompany some of your favorite books! We recruited Ricky Riccardi, author of What a Wonderful World: The Magic of Louis Armstrong’s Later Years, to put together some great tracks to highlight the jazz icon’s genius.

Ricky says, “In the end, I decided to eliminate all the hits…so yes, the playlist for ‘What a Wonderful World’ does not include ‘What a Wonderful World.’ ALL the hits are available on Spotify on something called ‘Louis Armstrong: The Definitive Collection.’ I purposely didn’t repeat any of the tracks on that release. Instead, I focused on songs I discussed and tried presenting Armstrong in a million scenarios: with the All Stars, live, in the studio, with strings, with guitar, with Duke Ellington, the Dukes of Dixieland, Dave Brubeck, singing in Italian, doing a Disney song, doing that German version of ‘Black and Blue’…”
